90 Day Fiancé Alum Varya Reflects On Geoffrey’s Sentencing Anniversary

When 90 Day Fiancé fans see the posts made by Varya Malina over the past year, the Russian beauty seems blissfully happy. However, there is so much more to this. In fact, Varya took to her Instagram Stories to reflect on the “horrendous” year spent apart from Geoffrey following his guilty verdict. However, despite the fact that this has been the hardest year of her life, the Russian beauty stays positive. In fact, she has now revealed exactly how she has learned to cope with her depression from being apart from Geoffrey.

One Year Since 90 Day Fiancé Alum Geoffrey Paschel Sentenced

As fans know too well, Geoffrey Paschel is currently serving 18 years behind bars on an alleged domestic abuse charge. In fact, the trial went live on CourtTV on October 6, 2021. In the courtroom, Paschel’s former girlfriend, Kristen Wilson, made some unsettling claims about the night of June 9, 2019. On the stand, she described the alleged abuse that took place at the hands of Paschel.

Meanwhile, on October 7, 2021, the Nashville native was found guilty on all counts. These included aggravated kidnapping, domestic violence, and interference in an emergency call. Moreover, on February 4, 2022, Geoffrey was sentenced to 18 years behind bars with no possibility of parole. The judge explained that many factors played into Paschel’s sentencing, including prior convictions.

Geoffrey’s Motion For A Retrial Denied

Furthermore, he appeared on CourtTV again on June 4, 2022, this time for a motion for a retrial. In the court, the former TLC reality star looked almost unrecognizable in his prison clothing, shaggy hair, and a long beard.

Meanwhile, the judge declined Geoffrey’s motion for a retrial, saying:

I will be respectfully denying the motion for a new trial.

In fact, in the courtroom lawyers said it is “rare” for cases like Geoffrey’s to receive post-conviction relief.

In her Instagram Stories, Varya Malina explained that her first year without Geoffrey has been “horrendous.” In the post, made on the one-year anniversary of the guilty verdict, she opened up to her fans about how she has coped in his absence.

In fact, she explained that after one week, she already started to “accept the reality” of Geoffrey’s sentencing in order to help herself. In her Story, she wrote in her captions:

This year apart was horrendous. However, it taught me a lot.

How to be a landlady. How to maintain the house. How to take care of a million of problems falling down on your shoulders at the same time.

However, the 90 Day Fiancé alum explained, “I became stronger, but persevered my kindness. I don’t wish anyone to go through what I went through.”

How Varya Malina Fought Depression

Meanwhile, during this past year, the Russian beauty has been open with her followers about how she deals with her depression. She explained that she walks their dogs in the woods for hours and has talked to a counselor. Varya also plans her day and thanks herself for doing even 30 percent of what she planned.

Moreover, Malina explained that her biggest source of hope is talking on the phone with Geoffrey in prison. She added:

Spending hours on the phone with Geoffrey helped both of us to breathe again and focus on the future. We found hope.

While Geoffrey might be in prison, Varya isn’t putting her life on pause and is hopeful about the future and focused on her present. In fact, while her man is languishing behind bars, Varya has been living her life, trying new things, and traveling. However, despite this, she confirms that her relationship with Geoffrey is “stronger than ever.”
