90 Day Fiance brought a number of Ukrainians and Russians to the TLC show. So, when Russia invaded Ukraine in February, fans looked for their reactions on social media. At the time, Russia called it a “special operation,” rather than an invasion. But following an offensive by Ukraine, President Putin approved a partial mobilization and Varya Malina is devastated.

Yara Zay who married Jovi Dufren is Ukrainian. When the invasion happened, she was quick to speak out. In fact, she even appeared on Fox News, and she encouraged folks to reach out with donations for the victims of the war. As she still has relatives and friends in Ukraine, she felt extremely emotional and clearly didn’t support President Putin’s decision.

90 Day Fiance fans also saw that Varya Malina, a Russian, reacted as well. She said on her social media that she’s “ashamed to be a citizen of the aggressor country.” Notably, she described Putin as a “bloodthirsty old coocoo.” Next,  she called for an end to the war. So, some critics who hate that she remains loyal to incarcerated Gefoffry Paschel felt a bit mollified by her stance. But now she’s more closely involved, and she sounds very upset.

If you missed it, September 21 brought the news that Putin had agreed with the head of his military that there was a need to enlarge their fighting units. Mainstream media covered the story and discovered that Russian leaders feel that NATO and the USA fight a proxy war against their country. So, Putin decided that their territorial integrity is under threat. Therefore, he agreed that people with previous service who are in the reserves will be called up to fight.

Notably, unlike in Ukraine, it does not apply across the board for fighting aged men and women. They must have previously served. Well, Varya is now personally involved because she has a brother who is “in the army reserves.”

The 90 Day Fiance alum said that she’s been “crying all day.” Additionally, because of her brother, she feels “terrified” on his behalf. Once again, the situation reveals that while government leaders sit safely at home, their war-mongering really only affects those who just want to get on and live a happy life. After all, ordinary people die, while the weapons manufacturers make a lot of money at their expense.

While some folks see it as a good thing that Russia is on the back foot, others cheer that he threatened the use of nuclear warheads. At the end of the day, no matter where people stand on the issues, someone’s brother, somewhere in the war-torn region, lost their life today.
