Longtime viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that back a couple of years ago, Chelsea and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) were involved with each other. They were living at Nick’s place, along with Connor’s half-brother Christian Newman (Alex Wilson), Adam’s son with the late Sage Newman (Kelly Sullivan). But young Connor wanted him, his mother and Adam to be a family again. He started acting out, and in some pretty serious ways – he went into rage reactions and broke lamps and other things, and he also terrorized Christian, even locking him in a dark garage overnight!
Viewers of The Young and The Restless will remember that prior to that, Adam had tried to regain custody of Christian, but was unable to, and then Chelsea showed back up in town and later Connor joined her. Chelsea was beside herself, and was unable to control Connor, and started taking him for stays with Adam-eventually joining him herself. The stays became more and more often and longer and longer, and soon Chelsea hired Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) to try and identify and solve Connor’s emotional and behavioral issues.
Viewers of The Young and The Restless soon saw that Connor didn’t want Sharon’s help and he really didn’t want Sharon around his father! He would start chanting out loud for Sharon to go away in threatening tones and soon Chelsea was afraid that he would hurt Sharon – push her down the stairs of the penthouse or something! Once Connor could see his parents falling in love again and eventually reconciling as a couple, the bad behavior stopped; yet, neither Chelsea, Adam nor Sharon could tell the young Connor was manipulating them!
Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that they were happy for a few months until Adam’s own bad behavior and issues started cropping up again, and Chelsea sent him away to boarding school for his own protection. The source of Adam’s issues, which were quite deep and destructive, came out as he remembered killing a man who was harassing his blind mother, Hope Adams (Signy Coleman) in the farmhouse in Kansas – but as he was trying to work through them, he pushed Chelsea away.
Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that then Chelsea spiraled, after having fallen and hit her head in a building Adam had shut off the power to. She was locked in an elevator as Adam had planned to set a bomb off in Newman Enterprises, and she tried to climb out of the elevator. At some point after she got out of the building, Adam having not gone through with his bombing plans, she developed a brain aneurysm the night before the family planned to move back to Kansas.
After she returned from the hospital she was paralyzed for a while but recovered, keeping her recovery a secret. Viewers of The Young and The Restless will remember what happened next, and now she is healed and back, and Connor is talking about wanting all three of them together as a family again. The big question is, will Connor go back to his manipulations to get Adam and Chelsea back together so all three can “live happily ever after” in spite of his having been happy on his grandpa’s ranch?
