Viewers will recall that in Chance’s last scene, he took a phone call and then did not appear to be home when Abby Newman Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) arrived home. She had been in a meeting with Mariah Copeland and her partner Tessa Porter (Camryn Grimes, Cait Fairbanks) letting them know the plans for Mariah to be her and Chance’s surrogate had changed because he could not father a child at this time. The doctor had told a very disappointed Chance that it was likely that his recent recovery from a gunshot wound, along with side effects of some of the medications he had been on had rendered him infertile.
He was told it could be temporary, but that didn’t make either him or Abby feel any better about the matter since they had wanted to start having children – their own children – right away. Mariah accepting the offer to carry their baby had been their answer – until it wasn’t. Whoever was on the other end of the phone with Chance asked for him by name, and he told them he knew they’d catch up with him one of these days – but who was it?
Could it be the woman in Las Vegas that was asking questions about her missing husband, the guy that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) killed to save Chance’s life, and that they buried somewhere in the desert? Is someone after Chance to make him pay, and that is how he just disappears, as told by his portrayer Donny Boaz when he let fans know of his last day on the show?
Chance had just gotten hired by the Genoa City Police Department, and had left the FBI and started his own private detective business so he could stay in his hometown with Abby, and sold it to go work for the police. But it seems that the feds wanted him back – whether it be for a special investigation or task force, or something similar, it seems that will be the story.
It will be something that Chance did not have any choice in the matter regarding, but has enough time to let his loved ones know through others. Chance will be gone, but the mission will be important enough and urgent enough that he could not prepare his loved ones for his absence or fully explain what is going on.
The Young and The Restless spoilers reveal that District Attorney Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell) will summon Abby and Chance’s mother, Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) to tell them in person that Chance was drafted by the feds on a secret mission, and it was not his choice to go on it. She does not know anything about how long he will be gone, or when he will return – he will be under what is called “deep cover” – he will not be able to call home or communicate with anyone back home. It may be a case he was previously involved with that had loose ends to tie up. It could be Las Vegas coming back to haunt him – or it could be something else!
