The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal so much wrong with Abby Newman’s (Melissa Ordway) baby and surrogacy story that we could write a novel and we’d still never get it all out there, but after having to go through Mariah’s (Camryn Grimes) sad pregnancy and kidnapping while Abby knit and now Abby unable to bond with the baby, there might at least be a real good reason for the bonding problem that has nothing to do with Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd).
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Let Us Meet Dominic
While Mariah and the audience bonded with Baby Bowie, Abby abruptly changed his name to Dominic and then never showed us his face. In fact, we have to wonder if the baby even has a face. For the longest time it looked like a sandwich wrapped in a blanket and we guess to signify that the baby has grown, the show has stuck a small butterball turkey in the blanket.
The characters and actors never even look like they are holding a baby when they pick up this blanket and we don’t even get any indication that he even has a head. How can the audience feel anything for this story when we don’t even see a baby.
Some can argue that due to COVID, maybe Y&R and soaps don’t want babies and kids on the set, but we did have young Harrison back, The Bold and the Beautiful shows us Hayes, General Hospital always has kids around and shows us Bailey, so that excuse doesn’t fly.
Y&R Spoilers – Abby Newman Can’t Even Feed The Blanket Right
One of the most recent disconcerting scenes was when Abby had to put a bottle in the blanket baby’s mouth and we could see the entire bottle nipple as Melissa Ordway looked down at her prop pretending she was feeding it. We are not supposed to see the nipple if the baby is drinking. That’s not how this works.
If The Young and the Restless wants us as the audience to feel anything for this baby, we have to first see this baby. Otherwise, he is not even a character to us. He is a blanket prop and just one more thing wrong with this ill-conceived plot. Stay tuned to The Young and the Restless weekdays to see if we ever see Dominic’s face.
