The test itself was accurate, matching Steffy’s feelings that Finn was the father of her child. But Vinny made it appear as though Liam was the dad, as part of his efforts to help Thomas win Hope. That choice broke hospital rules and morality. Vinny will be lucky if he’s not prosecuted, but that will be a subjective legal decision.

Liam has actually come around. He’s telling the truth when saying that a profound realization has overcome him since the night of the mannequin incident and the cliff house conundrum.

However, Hope appears to feel that it’s too little too late for her multiple time husband. In trying to sort through what Liam did she’s needed to weigh her love for him, his love for her and Steffy, and what’s best for all of the children that are involved.
