Shay Mitchell speaks up about the comments she received after the birth of her daughter Atlas.
The Model And Actress Has Gotten More Than A Fair Of Advice And Also Faced Mom Shaming
In a recent interview with Women’s Health, Mitchell reflected on the criticism she faced since the birth of her daughter in October 2019, from comments about breastfeeding her daughter to her workout routine.
The actress said, “Right after I had Atlas if I ever made a comment about how I didn’t feel like myself, people were like, ‘Well, you just had a baby. Yeah, I know I just had a baby. I’m very grateful for my body, and that it gave life, but I’m still allowed to express that I don’t feel like myself.”
Shay Mitchell’s Fitness Routine Has Helped Her Overcome Any Negative Feelings Stemming From The Online Criticism
Most recently, the Pretty Little Liars was trolled online for sharing a side-by-side photo that showed before and after shots of Mitchell’s fitness regime which she began during the pandemic.
Social media users commented, asking if the snap was “photoshopped,” and the 34-year-old actress has revealed that she was bothered by the comments since she was proud of her results from her fitness routine.

The Model Who Has Been Candid About Her Struggles With Prepartum Depression Has Shared An Inspiring Message
Mitchell, who previously opened up about her experience with prepartum depression, shared I was strong before I had Atlas, and I wanted to feel that way after. We celebrate our bodies before we’re pregnant; we celebrate our bodies with bumps. We should also celebrate our bodies at whatever point we feel our best again.”
She added that her consistent routine – in addition, to support from friends and family- really helped her find her strength to overcome her prepartum struggles and tackle any postpartum criticism that comes her way, explaining “ “Getting up to 50 pounds was a boss move. I was really proud of myself.”
