Royal Family News: Why Is Prince Edward Meeting With Princess Beatrice’s Patronages?

British royal family news shows that a surprise appearance at a recent royal event has tongues wagging. Why exactly did senior working royal Prince Edward fulfill an official engagement with a patronage that is overseen by a non-working member of The Firm?

Royal Family News – Royals Are Making News

The event in question occurred on Monday when Prince Edward attended a reception given by the Berkshire Community Foundation. Princess Beatrice has been the patron of this organization since 2014. The event was duly noted in the Court Circular which documents each and every official duty performed by senior members of the Royal Family.

This entry caught the eye of royal experts because Edwards’s visit was to a patronage of Princess Beatrice who is a non-working member of the Royal Family.

Royal Family News – What is Happening On The Royal Calendar?

According to Express, the Court Circular entry for the event is dated September 6 and reads: “The Earl of Wessex this afternoon attended a Reception given by Berkshire Community Foundation for beneficiaries and voluntary groups at Ascot Racecourse and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire (Mr James Puxley).”

Royal blogger Gert’s Royals, notes that Beatrice, who is the daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, chose to represent this patronage due to, “her close ties to the Berkshire community having attended Upton House School & St. George’s School.”

Royal Family News – Princess Beatrice Has Several Patronages

The Foundation favored by Beatrice debuted in 1985. It supports the Berkshire community with grant money and by connecting people and causes aligned with their interests.

Princess Beatrice is also physically close to Berkshire, since she grew up at the Royal Lodge which is a short distance from Windsor Castle and she attended two nearby schools, Upton House and St. George’s School.

This summer Beatrice recorded a message in which she touched upon her memories of Windsor. The video was in recognition of the fundraising event Parallel Windsor Virtual. In the video she said, “I am so excited to welcome everyone at Parallel Windsor 2021. I know that I’ve spent a lot of time walking and running around these incredible grounds. So I hope you have the best time.”

Unlike Edward, Beatrice is not a working member of the Royal Family. Nonetheless she is involved with several patronages including Teenage Cancer Trust, York Theatre Royal and the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre.
