On April 5 she made a televised message to the nation in regard to the pandemic that gripped the world. At that time she made mention of Dame Vera Lynn’s Second World War anthem, and she did so again today, as she wished the UK a, “happy and healthy New Year.”
In her April 5 speech the Queen focused on the hope of a better future remarking, “if we remain united and resolute,” in the face of the coronavirus crisis then “we will overcome it.”
Today Her Majesty posted, “We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again.”
The final four words referenced Dame Vera Lynn’s Second World War anthem; she died on June 18.
The Queen has 4.3million followers and her tweeted concluded with the words, “Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year.”
Her post had four photographs from the year 2020. In one she is seen knighting Captain Tom Moore in July. The amazing war veteran walked laps for charity in his backyard and he was able to raise £33million for the NHS Charities Together group.
Another picture shows the Queen and her husband Prince Philip looking at a wedding anniversary card while at Windsor Castle last month.
Another picture shows her previous TV address on a Piccadilly Circus billboard, while the fourth shows Windsor Castle’s Round Tower lit up in blue as a tribute to NHS workers.
Her tweet comes on the same day that her relocated grandson Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle made yet another PR announcement about themselves and their lives.
Meghan wrote, “At Archewell, we unleash the power of compassion to drive systemic cultural change.”
They also announced partnerships between Archewell and tech and research-focused groups, “through the business verticals of audio and production.”
And they absolutely rudely snubbed their fathers by posting, “We have experienced compassion and kindness, From our mothers and strangers alike … Together, we can choose courage, healing, and connection. Together, we can choose to put compassion in action. We invite you to join us. As we work to build a better world. One act of compassion at a time.”
