British royal family news shows that individual, family and even national schedules around the world have been disrupted ever since the coronavirus pandemic took hold. The United Kingdom royal family is no exception. What is normally a very public facing family has had to hold virtual visits for months.
Everything in 2020 was different for Queen Elizabeth from her annual lavish birthday party to having to isolate and not hold her annual grand Christmas party. Even 2021 has already seen major disruptions as she has had to cancel her four annual royal garden parties.
What’s next to be disrupted? There are two royal babies scheduled to be born this year and no doubt their arrivals will be muted. Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall, the Queen’s granddaughters are due to give birth but it could be months before they meet Her Majesty.
Royal Family News – The Queen’s Scheduled Has Been Disrupted
The UK is in another major lockdown. The Queen will once again be doing video calls to mark major events after returning to in-person meetings for a brief time toward the end of last year. This means she will likely have to meet the new royals virtually, an unheard of proposition.
To put this in context, when the William and Kate the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, the Queen was one of the very first family members to meet them, within days of their births. This is also true for her great grandson Archie the seldom scene son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. In his case the queen met him a mere two days after he was born.

Based on Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank’s pregnancy announcement, they are believed to have a child any day now. The arrival date of the third child of the queen’s granddaughter Zara and her husband Mike Tindall is not known. The exuberant father made the announcement on his podcast, The Good, the Bad and the Rugby, surprising the nation, and maybe even the royals themselves!
