Royal Family News: Queen Elizabeth Wows And Wins Over Scots

British royal family news shows that Queen Elizabeth had a glorious morning out today as she and her daughter Princess Anne toured an outdoor community initiative in Glasgow.

Her Majesty looked in her element as she toured The Children’s Wood Project. She listened intently as the staff described how the center works to encourage a happy, healthy and resilient community via access to green space and outdoor lessons.

The Children’s Wood Project is a dedicated green space that offers locals a connection with nature through outdoor activities like as gardening, beekeeping and classes.

Royal Family News – Queen Elizabeth Conducted Royal Business Today

The young people at the center today had the opportunity to chat with the royals about the Wood Project and at one point the queen watched as youngsters toasted marshmallows.

Anne and Elizabeth also heard from local beekeepers who donate their time to maintaining the wood’s beehives. Beekeeper Kathleen Friend told the Queen of the beehive, “You can sunbathe outside it and they don’t seem to mind.” At one point the queen was given a jar of honey from one student.

Royal Family News – Princess Anne Accompanied Her Mother On A Royal Visit

As the queen and Princess Anne interacted with the schoolchildren and teachers they both seemed to be enjoying the atmosphere and being outdoors.

Gardener Quinton Cutts relayed that during lockdown everyone had been on their best behavior, and, “nobody’s stolen my beans.”

The queen joked about his sparse garden and said, “perhaps if you had some beans.” She gazed some more and then decided to compliment him by saying, “That’s tempting too, the strawberries.”

The Children’s Wood Project is also known as The North Kelvin Meadow and it is a prime example of how an urban community can benefit from the presence of an introduced green space.

The local community has turned what was a disused site into a vibrant outdoor community hub.

Royal Family News – The Queen Visited A Garden Setting

The queen and Anne are in town for a four-day visit. Scotland is celebrating Royal Week and they will take part in various events in the community.

Yesterday she met with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon who has not always been welcoming of royal visits. Last year she made it clear that she did not approve of William and Kate’s whistle-stop train tour across the UK.

The always tactful queen told the First Minister she was pleased to be back in Scotland for the first time since her 99-year old husband Prince Philip died in April.
