Royal Family News: Prince Charles Ripped For Breaking Lockdown To See Ailing Father

British royal family news divulges that Prince Charles faced a torrent of criticism as social media dragged him for making a 200-mile round-trip drive to visit his sick father Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh in a London hospital.

The 99-year old prince was admitted last week to King Edward VII’s hospital in Marylebone as a “precautionary measure” for an undisclosed ailment. Charles was seen arriving at the back of the hospital Saturday afternoon for the visit.

By Sunday afternoon London police officers were seen outside the hospital where the Duke of Edinburgh is being treated.

Royal Family News – Social Media Is Divided Over Prince Charles’ Trip

Social media was divided on the wisdom of the trip with some questioning the lockdown restrictions and others calling for compassion.

The hashtags #princephilip and #princephillip soon began trending on Twitter this morning, with many critical of Charles’ visit as the country endures its third coronavirus lockdown.

Charles is the first member of the royal family to visit Philip since his admittance. It is reported that the two men spent around 30 minutes after the 100-mile journey from Highgrove in Gloucestershire to the capital.

Royal Family News – Should Charles Have Gone To See His Father?

Photographs of Charles as he walked to his car and once inside the vehicle revealed a highly emotional expression on his face and his eyes looked strained. The hospital is currently allowing visitors only in “exceptional circumstances” due to the Covid pandemic.

Soon after the Twitterverse lit up with comments like: “Not disrespect to #princephillip. But double standards. Is prince Charles getting a fine?” and “Why is it #PrinceCharles can visit his father #princephillip in hospital? Relatives who have lost family through #Covid-19 have been unable to say goodbye to there loved ones. once again double standards in our country.”

Another tweeted, “I do hope Prince Phillip gets better but why was Prince Charles allowed to visit his father in hospital when families all around the country are not getting to visit their loved ones who are in hospital when it’s not COVID related?”

Royal Family News – Prince Philip Remains Hospitalized

Others defended the visit including Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan who is a frequent critic of the royals. He said, “What an incredibly sad picture. A tearful son after seeing his seriously ill 99yr-old father in hospital. If your first instinct is to spew abuse or rage about Prince Charles visiting Prince Philip today, shut the f*ck up.”
