While both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made it pretty clear that they have no intention of ever returning to the UK ever again, seeing how they’ve settled quite well into their new lives in California, a lot of people can’t help but wonder what this means for Harry and his future within the royal family. In fact, there’s a lot of speculation on whether or not Prince Harry can even be king, seeing how he and Meghan have been furthering themselves more and more from the monarchy this past year. Here’s what you need to know.
British Royal Family – Can Prince Harry Still Be King Of England?
While Queen Elizabeth has made it pretty clear that the front door has been shut on Harry and Meghan and a return to royal life, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex don’t seem to be shedding any tears over it. In fact, they’ve made it pretty clear that they plan on doing what they’ve been doing for the past year, while also raking in their multi-million dollar media deals and committing to doing as much service as possible.
With that said, a lot of people can’t help but wonder what this means for Prince Harry and his future, especially when it comes to the line of succession to the throne. So far Prince Harry is number six, and behind his father, Prince Charles, his brother, Prince William, and his nephews and niece, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
What Are The Changes Of Prince Harry Ever Becoming King?
According to Express.co.uk, the only people in the UK who can decide the composition of the line of succession are MPs. Royal historian and author Marlene Koening puts it this way, “Succession to the throne is based on legislation including the Succession to the Crown Act, which includes the Act of Settlement. It would take an act of Parliament to remove a person from the line of succession.”
