British royal family news teases that the Archbishop of Canterbury is not done talking about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. They were the ones who dragged the man of the cloth into the fray, claiming that he broke the law on their behalf.
The Markle’s had the audacity to declare during a tell-all with Oprah Winfrey that he married them in secret three days before their over the top public ceremony. They picked the wrong guy to slander.
Their celeb friends may be shy about confronting the thirsty pair on their outrageous claims, but an Archbishop has a higher authority to account to. He had no alternative but to tell the world that he did not marry Harry and Meghan in their backyard three days before the real wedding, as Meghan boasted.
Now he’s speaking out again, this time saying that being a member of the royal family is akin to serving “life without parole.” And he gave Prince Harry a stern warning that only time will tell if he heeds.
Archbishop Justin Welby is the man who refused to be cowed by Meghan and Harry. And now, according to him, the British public have unrealistic expectations about members of the royal family.
According to Welby, “We expect them to be superhuman.” The Anglican minister presided over the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at Windsor Castle in 2018.
Yet Meghan asserted that he actually married them in secret three days before in the backyard of Kensington Palace Gardens.
Today Welby told the Financial Times that he has nothing but sympathy for Harry and Meghan.
He said of royal life, “It’s life without parole, isn’t it? If you go back to the 1930s, Edward VIII, he was still a celeb and followed everywhere once he’d abdicated. We expect them to be superhuman.”
Immediately, royal experts blasted Welby’s “singularly inappropriate” remarks. Richard Fitzwilliam, is a royal expert and he accused Welby of feeling guilty over having to, “deny having them married twice.”
He added, “It is also a singularly inappropriate way of describing, for example, the position of the Queen where her dedication to duty as a symbol of national unity has been beneficial to the whole nation.”
Royal author Phil Dampier snubbed the archbishop for, “tending to stray into politics,” and accused him of, “jumping on a woke bandwagon which he might think will attract younger people to the church.”
He added that Welby’s comments, “will certainly raise eyebrows among older churchgoers.”
