Resuming their full schedules shows they are ready to move on, following what has been a turbulent year. In addition to the death of Philip, two senior royals, Princes Andrew and Harry specialized in adding even more grief to the queen’s plate.

The Queen marked her 95th birthday privately on Wednesday and it was a sea change from 2002 when she and Philip celebrated her golden jubilee amid pomp and circumstance and smiles all around.

Royal Family News – What Happens Next In The Monarchy?

Back then, Prince Charles, William, and Harry appeared with the Queen as the future faces of the monarchy and the future looked bright. Fast forward a couple of decades and everything seems dingier, the monarchy tarnished by scandal (Andrew) and unbridled anger (Harry).

Today aides are hoping that by next year when Elizabeth marks her platinum jubilee, things will have settled and turned sunnier. She will be the first-ever British sovereign to celebrate 70 years on the throne and already she is the longest-serving monarch.

According to a UK government statement, the jubilee will be held over a four-day bank holiday weekend in June 2022: “an extensive program of public events will mix traditional pageantry with cutting edge technological displays.”

Will the family have forgotten all about Harry’s trash-talking interview with Oprah Winfrey in which he tried to shame and blame his family for ruining his life to the point he had to relocate to the US where he now lives in luxury as Hollywood Harry with his wife Meghan Markle?

Will they have cleared up any lingering allegations stemming from Prince Andrew’s relationship with convicted and very dead pedophile Jeffrey Epstein?

Next year promises to be a new chapter and the book is already being written on how to move past the ugliness of base behavior and shameless conduct. When 2022 arrives the monarchy should have a much different look and feel to it, courtesy of Charles’ restructuring plan as much as it is due to the absence of several formerly key members of the clan.
