British Royal family news reveals Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex has received a lot of criticism for not attending Prince Philip’s funeral with the rest of the royal family this past week. And while her reasons were surely justified – she is heavily pregnant with her second child and there is an ongoing pandemic that is going on – some people believe that she could have made it there, especially if Meghan wanted to. But she didn’t. And truthfully, she made the right decision not to fly to the UK. Here are five reasons why.

#1 The Entire Royal Family Would Have Snubbed Her In Front Of The World

There are some reports that suggest both Princess Anne and Prince Edward wanted nothing to do with Prince Harry and even turned their backs on him at Prince Philip’s funeral. Certainly, Meghan Markle would have gotten the same treatment. The only person who was somewhat pleasant to Harry was his uncle, Prince Andrew, only because he knows what it feels like to be an outsider.

#2 She Would Have Seen Doors Slammed In Her Face

While there are some reports that say Prince William was rather frosty to Prince Harry at their grandfather’s funeral, there’s no denying that he would have slammed a door or two in his sister-in-law’s face. Yes, his anger is just as bad. After all, as the future King of England one day, Prince William can’t have his brother and his sister-in-law smearing the royal family in the media and thinking that they could get away with it, no matter how much the truth might hurt about it.

#3 Prince Philip’s Funeral Would Have Been All About Meghan

Regardless of what anyone says, there’s no doubt that the media would have made Prince Philip’s funeral all about Meghan Markle – what she wore, how she acted, who she spoke to. And that’s something the royal family certainly didn’t want to see.

#4 Sometimes It’s Better To Save Face

And by that, we mean not showing up at all. Should Meghan Markle have gone to Prince Philip’s funeral, she would have had to face a lot of snickering, both from within the palace walls and outside. After all, she doesn’t have a very favorable opinion among many Britons right now. In fact, there’s a good number of them that downright hate her.

#5 Prince Harry Had To Face The Music On His Own

Sure, it was both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who threw the entire royal family under the bus in their seismic interview with Oprah Winfrey back in March, but it’s without a doubt that the royal family would be more willing to listen to what Prince Harry has to say than Meghan. After all, she is still considered an ‘outsider’ in the royal family and someone who tore apart the UK’s favorite ginger son from his royal family. Having Meghan whisper things to say in Harry’s ear would have certainly made any conversations between them and Prince Charles and Prince William more unproductive than they already are.
