Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son Archie may be an ocean away from many members of the royal family, but he still got love from his closest relations in the royal family. His great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth, and his aunt and uncle Kate Middleton, and Prince William showed the royal toddler some love as he celebrated his second birthday.
Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwell also shared birthday messages to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first child through their official Instagram account Clarence House.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are expecting their second child to arrive sometime in the summer, celebrated Archie’s birthday by releasing pictures of the boy: one of those pictures was taken by his father, Prince Harry, and featured Archie sitting on his smiling mother’s lap. They also asked for donations that will go into distributing COVID-19 vaccines to many countries around the world on their son’s birthday.
The Queen shared a sweet message to his great-grandson who is now two years old via the official Royal Family Instagram account. “Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 2nd birthday,” the caption read. The picture shared by The Queen was one taken just days after the toddler was born in 2019, making him seventh-in-line to the throne.
It was also the moment that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex introduced their firstborn to the world at Buckingham Palace, and one of the very few times he has been photographed and seen in person by The Queen.
It may have been a while since The Queen saw Archie, as he now lives in California with his parents after they moved to America last summer, but the little boy will always be in the monarch’s heart.
Prince William and Kate Middleton also joined in celebrating their nephew Archie’s second birthday. The throwback picture, which was shared on Twitter and Instagram, was taken on Archie’s christening day and shows him surrounded by family.
“Wishing Archie a very happy 2nd birthday today,” the post’s caption read, along with a balloon and a birthday cake emoji.
It is expected that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would have privately wished Archie a happy birthday through a video call made to his parents.
Archie, who lives in Santa Barbara, hasn’t seen his aunt and uncle, and his cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, in months.
“Happy Birthday to Archie, who turns two today,” Prince Charles and his wife Camila shared on the boy’s birthday, alongside a candled cake emoji on their official Instagram account. The picture that they posted to honor the boy’s birthday caused some controversy as it was just that of Harry with his then-newborn son.
