Prince William and Kate Middleton took to their social media to share the picture of their 6-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte, rocking her sun-kissed hair in loose strands and delicately holding a Red Admiral in her cupped hands. The sweet picture might have been taken by Kate, who is a keen amateur photographer.
The picture was publicly shared in order to help promote interest in the Big Butterfly Count. In the picture, Charlotte is wearing a pale blue £4 T-shirt from John Lewis, with lace detailing around the sleeves and pocket, and pink floral shorts. The location for the picture is unknown, but the background of lavender plants was strikingly beautiful.
Other images of butterflies feasting on a lilac bush was also shared, and the Cambridges captioned the pictures: “We wanted to share these beautiful Peacock and Red Admiral butterflies as part of Big #ButterflyCount initiative taking place across the UK.”
“@savebutterflies are encouraging us all to count these incredible creatures because not only are they beautiful creatures to be around but they are also extremely important,” their statement continued. “Butterflies are vital parts of the ecosystem as both pollinators and components of the food chain. Hopefully you can beat last year’s total, @savebutterflies.” A butterfly emoji adorned the caption.
Butterflies are very much important to our environment, and it may seem like a tiny insubstantial mission, but it means a lot – not only to the butterflies that have faced a huge decline in recent years all over the world, but for human beings as a species that depend on the work they do for the environment.
The Big Butterfly Count is a UK-wide survey aimed at providing conservationists with the data needed to assess the health of the environment by counting the amount and type of butterflies – and flying moths someday – that we see.
Media outlets are predicting that the picture could possibly have been taken during the Cambridges recent family vacation on the Isles of Scilly.
According to Hello! magazine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge travelled to the Cornish islands for a staycation with their three kids, as the kids are on summer break.
The royals, like many Britons, did not travel further from their home due to the ongoing pandemic and the unstable effects that it has on travel regulations.
