Lead Vocalist Of Confederate Railroad, Danny Shirley Is Down With Back Injury

The lead vocalist of the Confederate Railroad, Danny Shirley is down with an injury to his back, as confirmed by his fellow bandmates. The Rock band renowned for their rich southern music said Danny suffers from a broken back as a result of a freak mishap. The incident occurred on the 30th of March, with his bandmates calling on their fans to pray for his quick recovery.

The news of Danny’s back injury was revealed through the Facebook page of the band. The post is quite direct as it only revealed his back injury with no inside details as to how it happened. The good news is that Danny is said to be under intensive medical personnel and was heavily sedated. The Facebook post also said there was no cause for alarm in Danny becoming paralyzed, as doctors were confident he would recover soon.

They asked for his privacy to be respected and assured fans that any new developments will be made known as treatment continues.

The Confederate Railroad made waves in the early 90s, with a lot of their songs making entries into global music charts. The two hits Trashy Women and Queen of Memphis making them a household name. The band was formed in 1987 in Marietta, GA, and has two albums that were certified double platinum by the RCA. The two albums that sold millions of copies happen to be the band’s first two efforts, a self-titled 1992 album Confederate Railroad, and their 1994 album, Notorious. The band’s most recent album, Lucky To Be Alive, was released as far back as 2016.

The band’s name is certain to cause a lot of controversy in some parts of the United States. In 2019, they had two concerts in the cities of New York and Illinois canceled because people disapproved of their name and logo. The logo of the band includes the controversial Confederate flag. Danny who is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, said the band’s name will never be changed because it will be a gesture of disrespect to people who had bought their records.

As a sign of good gesture towards the cancellation of both shows, the band said they will not be accepting payment from the company that organized the events, to avoid the stress of legal litigation. In a post on the band’s Facebook page on the 24th of June last year, Danny said instead of accepting the full payment promised by the company, Du Quoin State Fair, they would prefer it was donated to a charity cause in Southern Illinois.

The aftermath of the cancellation of those two shows was a further cancellation of other shows slated for July and August because of the same reasons. In a recent interview, Danny said the group will never consider changing their name despite the uprising objections by the public.
