The prosecution and the defense rested their cases and by Wednesday, the jury went off to deliberate the case. Well, those who predicted a few hours for them to return a verdict were mistaken. Requesting to review some important evidence, the case rolled over to Thursday 9. Eventually, the verdict was read out and Josh was found guilty. It wasn’t as straightforward as so many people originally thought, as the defense team introduced some possible scenarios that they hoped would throw reasonable doubt into the equation, Well, they failed in their bid but no doubt appeal the outcome.
Counting On fans kept on top of Derick Dillard’s social media hoping for some tea about the Josh Duggar trial. Well, he didn’t comment very much. After all, has a lawyer himself, he probably knows better than to open his mouth much during a major trial. Certainly, it’s a risk and could even mess up the prosecution case. However, once the legal teams rested their cases, and the jury undertook their final step, he said on Twitter that he hopes for “justice.” Now that the case concluded, the Dillard family issued a statement on their blog.
The statement, obviously written for the media sounded formal, but a few glimpses of what the couple feels showed through. Firstly, they thanked the investigators and other folks who work hard to protect children. Plus, echoing the judge, it said that nobody is “above the law.” Additionally, the Christian couple quoted the bible where it talks about things being hidden that will be revealed. Next, they talked about the Duggar family and in particular, about Anna, the wife of Josh.
Josh Duggar faces a potentially lengthy jail term, and he leaves behind a wife and seven children. So, the statement read: “Josh’s actions have rippled far beyond the epicenter of the offense itself. Children have scars, but his family is also suffering the fallout of his actions.” It continued, saying, “Our hearts are sensitive to the pains Josh’s wife, Anna, and their seven children have already endured and will continue to process in the future. This trial has felt more like a funeral than anything else. Josh’s family has a long road ahead. We stand with them, we are praying for them, and we will seek to support them however we can during this dark time.”
The statement about Josh Duggar was shared on Twitter by Derick Dillard. There, people commented, and one of them wrote, “I respect you so much for how you’ve carried yourself through this process. Keep protecting that precious family of yours, ya’ll have our love and support!”
Then another follower noted, “I am sad for Anna and her kids. But I don’t feel sorry for josh Jim bob or michelle. He’s the abuser. And they’re enablers. I feel bad for his victims. But I’m glad for them Justice is served.
