General Hospital viewers will recall that Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) found out some information from Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) that was a bombshell! Liesl wasn’t really sure that she wanted him to use it at Nina’s preliminary hearing because then Nina would know that she betrayed a confidence, but she had offered it up.
It was Scott’s one thing that he thought he could get the whole case dismissed with where it wouldn’t go any further, because he admitted that he really didn’t have much of a defense. He wanted to keep Nina out of prison, but without something like that, there wasn’t that much of a chance that he would be successful.
But then Scott had made many assumptions – he figured if he asked Sonny that Sonny would lie, and figured Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) would have been paid off. Obviously, he doesn’t know Phyllis – she wouldn’t accept bribes!
Liesl hadn’t wanted Scott to call on Nina to testify, even though she knew she would be truthful. For one, she’d have to reveal her private and personal feelings and those of “Mike” for herself right in front of Sonny, Michael and Carly who naturally would be at the hearing. That would be very stressful and downright scary for Nina, who’s already been cut off from her grandson Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) by an extremely vindictive Michael, with Carly acting like his enforcer!
It seems to General Hospital viewers lately that every time Michael opens his mouth, his mother comes out! The day the hearing starts, Liesl will pressure Scotty some more, hoping there is some way putting Nina on the stand can be avoided. But Scott will tell her she will have to take the stand because not taking the stand would be taken as an admission of guilt, and these are serious charges! Nina is being charged with fraud and identity theft – although the identity theft charge is a little iffy. Nina didn’t take any of Sonny’s cards or identification and pretend to be Sonny, after all!
It sounds like Nina will take the stand and perhaps break down. General Hospital spoilers show that Sonny still cares for Nina and maybe even still loves her – after all, just because his own memories came back doesn’t mean those from Nixon Falls have disappeared, let alone his feelings.
General Hospital viewers know that Sonny has told Nina to keep her distance for a reason – not because he doesn’t care, but because he does. He knows both of them need to distance themselves so their inappropriate feelings for each other will have a chance to cool down and die!
But it doesn’t seem to have totally worked, as is evidenced when Sonny sees Nina struggling and feels sorry for her. It is likely that DA Richard Sheridan (David Jahn) calls Sonny to the stand, but instead of speaking against her he speaks in her favor and he likely admits that he had feelings for her! Then, after the hearing lets out, he will want to explain his actions, but Carly and Michael won’t have any of it!
