General Hospital – Stuart Damon Began His Career With Music

Stuart Damon was born on February 5, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY to Russian immigrant parents and got his start in show biz across the Brooklyn Bridge on Broadway. In 1968, he landed his big break when he played Prince Charming to Lesley Ann Warren’s Cinderella in the television movie Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. That same year, he appeared on Broadway in another Richard Rodgers musical, Do I Hear a Waltz? In the 1970s, Damon found work in episodic television before landing his defining role on GH.

GH Spoilers – Stuart Damon Becomes Beloved To General Hospital and Soap Opera Fans

Alan Quartermaine was one of the most beloved characters in General Hospital history and fans were shocked and confused when the show killed the character in 2007. Alan had a fatal heart attack after the famed Metro Court hostage storyline, but Damon still appeared on the show as Alan’s ghost when he would pay visits to Monica.

When Damon first began his GH tenure, Alan and Monica (Leslie Charleson) could never keep it together and it seemed like a competition on who could have more affairs. Alan famously tried to blow Monica up when she was in bed with Rick Webber, but eventually, he became saner over the years. Alan and Monica grew into a beloved couple and raised two sons, AJ (Sean Kanan and Billy Warlock) and Jason (Steve Burton). They also adopted a daughter, Emily (Amber Tamblyn and Natasha Livingston).

General Hospital – Stuart Damon’s Life After GH

In the years since Damon left General Hospital, he landed small, short-term roles on both As the World Turns and Days of Our Lives, it turns out General Hospital’s Alan was the role he loved the most.

According to The Sun, ABC news entertainment reporter George Pennachio spoke to Damon’s son, Christopher and he told him that General Hospital was “his favorite place to be.”

“He loved playing Alan and was always so appreciative for that role and for that job. It was his passion.”
