General Hospital viewers will remember that Dante tried to complete his mission and kill Peter, after being ordered to do so by Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) and she clicked her pen to activate his kill switch. But Dante’s mission was circumvented when Samantha McCall (Kelly Monaco) tracked him to the Port Charles Cemetery where he had Peter down on the ground by Nathan West’s (Ryan Paevey) grave, and she was able to talk Dante down by getting him to think about his son, Rocco Falconeri (O’Neill Monahan) and then get his gun. Peter fled, and Sam took Dante to General Hospital to look for Dr. Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) for help.
Peter then went looking for Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) at the Metro Court, and came down on him about turning Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) against him, and terrorized Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) by providing vague details of how he had an encounter with Dante in the cemetery, with Dante having a gun and Sam likely taking him to the hospital because Dante was messed up bad! Olivia, of course, was likely thinking that Peter had shot Dante! Valentin, of course stood up to him and rebuked him, and drew comparisons to his late father, Cesar Faison (Anders Hove). Peter had told Sam that Dante was messed up in the head when she arrived, but he has been around spies and DVX operatives enough in his life that he probably recognized the symptoms of brainwashing and a kill switch being activated.
Even though Peter has killed before, he usually has someone else do his dirty work – because he knows now that Dante may not only have a kill order against him, but can name him in certain and sundry crimes! Therefore, it is more likely that Peter will call upon his new ally Cyrus to issue a hit against Dante, although Peter has DVX contacts that he could call upon as well. Peter knows that Dante was working with WSB and so he doesn’t want to take a chance that Dante could recognize anyone he would send and therefore tie the crime to him.
That is why before going after Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) Peter put out that exposé about his brain tumor, in order to have many potential targets on Franco’s back and not just his own. If Franco had not kidnapped Peter, he would have bided his time to eliminate Franco. He knew that too many people knew that Franco was hearing Peter’s own voice through Drew Cain’s (Billy Miller) memories. However, Peter may find that obtaining Cyrus’ assistance with a takedown of Dante will not be without a price! Cyrus doesn’t just give out favors without a price, and Peter may find that he’s a little more difficult to work with than he ever imagined!
