Everything That Was Wrong With The Jarly Wedding On General Hospital

General Hospital spoilers reveal a rip-roaring week in Port Charles as we learn who really died in an exploding limo and Sonny makes his way back to town. But there’s a lot to unpack about the prior week and that Jarly wedding that seemed oh-so-wrong.

General Hospital Spoilers – Till Death Do Them Part?

It was bad enough that we are supposed to believe that Jason (Steve Burton) and Carly (Laura Wright) are the loves of one another’s lives after they spent so many years apart in other popular pairings. Somehow those pairings meant nothing and Jasam never happened because they were apparently repressing their feelings for each other since the 1990s. Who’s zoomin’ who here?

To prove that none of Jason’s other relationships meant anything, Jason’s children were not at this wedding and that fact was glaring. Where were Jake and Danny? We would understand if GH was keeping kids off the set during COVID, but they aren’t. We frequently see a baby on the set, we see Leo a lot lately, and Jake and Aiden were just camping with Finn (Michael Easton) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). What gives? Heck, we even saw Donna recently, Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly’s miracle child. Why were NONE of these kids at the wedding at all?

GH Spoilers – Why Was Everyone So Happy For Them?

Did everyone forget that Carly is a recent widow? Did Monica (Leslie Charleson) forget that Carly was responsible for her son being hanged from a meat hook and that she was an accessory in his eventual death years later? Why did she attend this wedding with glee? Sure, her comment about Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliott) dropping in to object to the wedding was funny, but it wasn’t enough.

It also made zero sense for Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) — a woman who supposedly has her infant child kidnapped out there somewhere — to be so obsessed with this wedding. We know the excuse was to distract her mind, but it’s as if she never thinks of her baby at all. Could she have put on a better act and maybe not planned this wedding, bubbles and all?

And bubbles? We know they are environmentally friendly, but this was a mob wedding between two people who honestly looked like brother and sister getting married and not two people madly in love for most of their adult lives. And maybe that was the biggest problem of all. The bride and groom have zero chemistry whatsoever. Stay tuned to General Hospital weekdays to see if Jarly actually stays married.
