It is teased that when Abe proposes, he will get Chanel Dupree’s (Raven Bowens) help. Chanel will do her part by baking Paulina’s favorite pie. When Abe uses the pie as part of his marriage proposal, Paulina will say yes.

Abe has already lost so much in his life, especially when his wife and Theo Carver’s (Cameron Johnson) mother passed away. Abe is at a point in his life in which he doesn’t want to waste any time. The mayor feels that Abe knows that Paulina is the person he wants to spend the rest of his life with.

“I feel that people at Abe’s age start to see, ‘Well, I don’t want to waste my time. I’ve made up my mind. This is who I want to be with. Let’s get married.’ So we decided to move forward and, obviously, at the same time try to build on the stress of Paulina trying to keep this secret about Lani under wraps.”
