Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that in Salem Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) exhibited symptoms that resemble dementia. However, viewers now realize that Doug’s missing chunks of time, lost memories and odd behavior were because he was possessed by the devil. During an interview, Susan Seaforth Hayes explained Julie Williams fears Doug’s diagnosis means a dark future.

DOOL spoilers reveal that Doug has literally not been himself. The first sign was when he locked Julie in the freezer and Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) had to save her. Then, Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) called Julie because of the odd way Doug was behaving. What wasn’t mentioned, though, was Doug ordering his burger extra rare. As fans know, Doug doesn’t have dementia at all but was possessed by the devil.

Julie was in constant denial when Jack and Roman both expressed concern about Doug. Jack even went as far as to make an appointment for Doug with Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans). Julie insisted that it be canceled but ended up changing her mind when Doug couldn’t even remember Alice Horton (Frances Reid).

Since then, Julie has shown what can only be described as panic or a frenzied fear. Of course, Julie being concerned about her husband is understandable. The only thing is that Doug doesn’t have dementia. Despite it appearing that way, Doug was actually possessed.

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Susan spoke to Soap Opera Digest about Julie’s frenzied fear. It’s not really the dementia that is the issue but what the future could hold for the both of them. Julie feels that she’s going to lose her best friend, her husband and her love story. She doesn’t want it to be replaced by dementia, Alzheimer’s disease or any other cruel illness.

“And of course, being an older person married to an older person, you have that fear and that frenzy… what you’re denying is it can’t be over, the love story can’t be over. In short, it puts everything good behind you and everything in front of you is the darkness, the other side of fortune. Fortune has two faces, the good side and the bad side. Between the two of them, they got over the bad side a long time ago and have had a wonderful, long line of happiness, and you don’t want to see it end.”

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: What Happens Next?

As for what happens next, Doug will struggle to communicate. Julie is unable to understand why Doug keeps talking about Marlena in danger. Next, Doug will try to get Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) to understand. However, will Eli know that Doug is trying to share a warning or will he assume it’s the rambling of a person with dementia?
