TLC 90 Day Fiance – Happily Ever After Spoilers: Andrei Finally Tells The Potthasts The Truth About His Past

TLC’s “90 Day Fiancé-Happily Ever After” star Andrei Castravet has been the subject of suspicion by the Potthast family ever since he came into their daughter and sister Elizabeth Potthast’s life and married her, and in an upcoming episode he finally comes clean about his past!

Viewers of the show will recall that Andrei and Elizabeth, now parents to an adorable baby daughter named Eleanor, decided to have a second wedding in Moldova for his parents and family since they were not able to come over to the United States for their first one. Chuck and Charlie, Elizabeth’s father and brother, were first to arrive, with her stepfather Walter and mother Pamela Putnam to arrive a little later, along with her sister Jennifer Potthast, “Jenn” for short.

Chuck and Charlie had made it a point to interrogate not only Andrei but his family, including his brother Radu Castravet and his friend Marcel, who also had worked at the Chisinau, Moldova police department with Andrei, about Andrei’s past.

Chuck and Charlie were suspicious that Andrei had something to hide after he told them in a car ride from the airport that prior to being a bouncer in a nightclub in Ireland, which was where he and Elizabeth met, that he had been a police detective and they couldn’t figure out why he would quit a presumably high paying job like that to become a presumably low paid bouncer, and in a foreign country, at that! They even suspected Andrei’s past may have had a criminal element to it! When Walter, Pamela, and Jenn arrived, Jenn joined in with Chuck and Charlie with suspicions of her own.

Chuck, Jenn, and Charlie secretly met with Marcel, whom Charlie had become friendly with at a dinner in a fancy restaurant, where he also nearly got into a fistfight with Andrei, to find out what Andrei was hiding about why he “really” left Moldova and the police force in Chisinau. When Andrei found out his in-laws had gone behind his back to get Marcel to tell them anything different than what he said at the dinner, he was livid.

Andrei had told Charlie that his friends would never tell him anything different than what he had already said, provocatively telling Charlie that they’d never tell him “the real story”. At this point is when the would-be fight almost happened, had Marcel and some others at the dinner not pulled the two men apart.

They ask Marcel again when they meet with him in secret about his past and especially about what happened with the police department – and Marcel admits that both of them had trouble with corrupt higher-ups in the police department and that even though Andrei wanted to continue as a detective, he couldn’t anymore because he wouldn’t do anything other than his regular detective job as he wanted to do it – and they pushed him so much he felt compelled to leave!

Marcel continued, telling them how Andrei could get in trouble or set up since in Moldova the whole police system is corrupt. Marcel also confessed that the corrupt superiors had wanted to get rid of the both of them, obviously implying that he, too, had left the force. When confronted with what Marcel told them, Andrei admitted that he was forced to leave the country, but not because of criminal actions on his part. He said he was framed after telling the corrupt police superiors that he wasn’t going to do things anymore and left.

The police have a lot of power in Moldova, so likely he may have feared more than facing legal consequences for what he had been framed for. Elizabeth, however, is furious because she didn’t recall him telling her anything about that, although he insists that he did!
