This unknown villain remains a threat to Adam, which means that his life is in danger. Another fired shot can’t happen because that would indicate Billy’s innocence, thus the frame job would be for naught.

Instead, viewers are watching for the true attempted killer to work another angle to try and end Adam. Victor has already demonstrated that he’ll do anything to protect his family. Along with potentially intervening in Chelsea’s health matters, Victor seems positioned to become the person who helps to reveal and, or catch the person who is still after Adam.
