CBS The Young and the Restless spoilers document Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) can form a new couple that would make a loud impact in Genoa City, Wisconsin.

Devoted Y&R fans and Shick fans, in particular, recall the infamous arc where Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) shattered Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) heart in the period that followed Cassie Newman’s (Camryn Grimes) still-reverberating death that took place in 2005.

Imagine the scenario where Phyllis pulls Rey away from Sharon, while she’s either trying to beat cancer or has just defeated it.

Nick’s affair with Phyllis was not only power couple crushing, it’s intent forcibly changed the direction of Case and Morrow’s characters. Shick divorced. While two attempts resulted in altar appearances, they have never remarried.

Phick had two marriages that were separated by less than two years, starting at the beginning of the last decade. They had a child, Summer Newman (Hunter King), which confirmed that Phyllis and Nick had a connection that went beyond surface attraction.

When viewers last saw them in April, Phyllis and Nick had just gotten back together officially.

There’s no doubt that Nick’s actions crushed Sharon. His inability to deal with the grief he was suffering following Cassie’s death led to dysfunctional coping mechanisms, that included taking comfort in Phyllis’ arms.

In the proposed scenario, where Phyllis and Rey bond, Sharon wouldn’t be the only relationship victim. Nick would become one as well.

The irony of Phyllis (and Rey) destroying Phick and Shey simultaneously would play directly off the historic end of Shick, while also having Nick betrayed.

Rey and Sharon have a solid relationship. But Phyllis and Nick seem to be reliving the romanticized versions of Phick’s past.

Viewers know that Rey’s marriage to Mia Rosales (Noemi Gonzalez) ended because of her draw to his brother. So, Rey will need to feel alienated from Sharon in some significant way in order for him to be open to some initial connection with Phyllis.

As for Phyllis, she simply needs to believe that Nick has wronged her, whether that’s true or not. She could also feel that Sharon agitated her and turn her gaze upon Rey. No matter what the perceived trigger, Phyllis is Phyllis and that would be enough for Phey to become possible.
