The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers document that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) acted with generosity a few weeks before Christmas. But Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) reaction makes her look like the Grinch.

The self-loathing response Phyllis offered to Nick, when he loaned her a substantial sum of money, is troubling. It may also signal that the recently rebooted Phick reunion will have a limited run.

Phyllis has worked very hard and has mostly stayed out of trouble since returning from Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2019. That was the point in plot where Y&R presented the recast of Phyllis, with Gina Tognoni (Phyllis) departing the cast.

The original Phyllis was edgy, vindictive, and ruthless. But Stafford’s comeback includes an evolution of the character. Yes, this is still Phyllis, but she’s more controlled in her approach to all things Genoa City, Wisconsin.

Today’s Phyllis is concerned about her legacy. That hopefully means she doesn’t allow pride to become a wedge issue where Nick is concerned.

Y&R Spoilers – Great Loves Lost?

Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) remains available. So, if Phyllis splits from Nick by, or before 2021, then Phack is surely an option. That doesn’t appear plausible now, but quickly could be written in that direction.

Bergman’s character was the subjectively most stabilizing figure in Phyllis’ life during their two marriage stints. But Nick was arguably her more passionate love.

Unless Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) returns and miraculously comes to adore Phyllis, either Nick, or Jack will stand as Phyllis’ only true love revival options.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Phick Working Through Natural Turbulence

Life in GC involves drama, which is a given. So, Phyllis and Nick were always going to experience a honeymoon period in their revived relationship and then hit a real, or perceived rough patch.

Nick’s financial backing is the reason why Phyllis has regained control of the Grand Phoenix hotel, as Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) snarked. Phyllis’ acceptance of Nick’s gift should not be followed by a feeling of failure, but rather as a further expression of the success she’s achieved in reestablishing trust.

Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc) has often been the person who can get through to Phyllis. Y&R needs to write the now gray fox into a conversation where he tells Phyllis to accept Nick’s gift and not to screw up the developing Phick comeback storyline, which remains believable.
