The Young and the Restless Spoilers – Kyle Abbott Tells Summer Newman He Wants Them To Move Forward And Buy A House

Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that it has been one year since Kyle and Summer Newman (Hunter King) got married the first time, then divorced, but Summer never got over Kyle. It was very painful to see him fall in love with and marry Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) although when she needed a kidney, Summer heroically stepped up and donated one of hers to save Lola’s life.

Kyle is very anxious to restart his life with Summer, but when it comes to them moving in together at this time in their relationship, Summer puts the kibosh on it. He wants to know if it’s because she’s worried about what her parents will think. Summer tells him that’s not it but she still doesn’t want to rush into living together – for a very important reason; Kyle is still a married man! He still needs to be legally free from Lola before she and he can move forward, he needs to get a divorce!

Kyle said he feels awful about hurting Lola and was hoping Lola would pursue the divorce against him, but she hasn’t. Kyle apparently doesn’t realize he has already hurt Lola terribly by continuing his affair with Summer, practically right in front of her eyes, since many of their dates are at Society, where Lola works! So in order to move on, Kyle calls Lola at work and tells her they need to do the legal things to get the divorce started.

Y&R Spoilers – What Should The Reason For The Divorce Be, And How Should They Proceed?

In real life, most states have gone for no-fault divorce that only requires a couple living apart for a year and then they can file, and as long as there are no issues such as custody of minor children or joint ownership of property, it’s a simple thing. This would be Kyle and Lola’s situation although they have not nearly spent a year living apart.

There are still the embarrassing reasons for a divorce that couples can pursue as well, complete with alimony, proof of adultery or other reasons on moral grounds, but hardly anyone ever does that anymore. If Lola were a housewife she could probably get alimony, which means Kyle would have to continue to support her, but she has her own successful career as a chef and is opening her own restaurant in Miami in addition to still having her food truck and being the head chef at Society.

However, if she were bitter and really wanted to make it an embarrassment for Kyle, she could certainly file for divorce on the grounds of adultery! Something like that could hit the news with Kyle being the CEO of a major corporation! But since Lola didn’t initiate the divorce, then Kyle makes the painful decision to start the process himself.
