The Young and the Restless star Donny Boaz is certainly taking a ‘chance’ in Genoa City. The actor, who plays Chance Chancellor on the hit soap, is opening up about his road to success. Here’s what he has to say.

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, the handsome actor says that he really didn’t envision a life on the small screen back when he was still in high school. Instead, his complete focus was all about sports. He told Soaps In Depth in a new interview, “I had such blinders on – that was my life. In high school, I went from cross country to football, basketball, baseball, tennis – rinse and repeat.”

When Donny was in high school, he was approached by a woman that suggested he should try modeling. After one thing led to another, Donny found himself for some of the biggest names in the fashion industry while trying to juggle his college work. He worked the runway for Calvin Klein and even appeared in ads for Abercrombie & Fitch.

Donn recalls, “The first thing they said to be was,’ Kid, you’ve got a good look, but your ears stick out. There’s a stubborn side to me that doesn’t like being told no, so all I did my freshman year was grow my hair out! Then I took some pictures, went back to the agency, and they were like, ‘This is you?’ They got the paperwork and said, ‘Sign here, here and here.”

And the rest as they say was history. After juggling a few projects here and there Donny got the call that said he got the role of Chance Chancellor on The Young and the Restless. For Donny, it really is a dream come true as he gets to play a character that is basically James Bond meeting Jason Bourne. Now, as far as what’s in store for Chance Chancellor, remains to be seen. Of course, The Young and the Restless fans will have to tune in to find out what will happen next!
