The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Chelsea Proceeds With Caution – Will Adam Get It Right This Time?

Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) is understandably cautious on ‘The Young and the Restless’. After hearing Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) impassioned words on his birthday, that was also New Year’s Eve, she received a gift.

Telling Chelsea that she should be with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) resulted in ‘Chick’s’ end. Egan’s character returned to the penthouse and the long-awaited and needed ‘Chadam’ reunion appeared to begin.

Being on board with the reconciliation isn’t in question. It’s just that Chelsea needs time to heal her heart. Adam understands and continues to project the softer side of himself fans were used to seeing when this couple was last together in 2016.

All that’s happened since last spring was too much for Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) to handle. That’s why he had his own breakdown, but does appear to be getting better.

Chelsea has been able to persist, despite learning that Adam never died, suffering the shock of her husband’s, Calvin Boudreau (John Burke), actual death, being kept out of the loop regarding Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) death hoax, responding to Connor Newman’s (Judah Mackey) problems, being taken hostage at the Grand Phoenix Hotel, and now, having Nick tell her that they were done. All of the preceding gives her the right to pause before exploring a ‘Chadam’ revival.

Just as caution is being employed by Chelsea, so too are she and Adam cautiously optimistic that Connor had a breakthrough when he found a cat during Christmas and named him Oliver.

Adam believes that Connor is getting better because has something positive to focus on. Chelsea is taking a more measured stance. She’s happy that Connor has taken a positive step, but will need to see daily progress before accepting that this family crisis has passed.

Family was the key term in the last paragraph, as that’s what Connor’s request to live with his dad at the penthouse helped to rebuild. Chelsea’s choice to help her son required that then drastic measure. Now, Connor’s well-being is key to his and his parent’s immediate future.

Nearly dying in the cabin blast, surviving in Las Vegas, Nevada, being informed of his identity, agreeing to return home, being shot by Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson), having his memory restored, and dueling with his father and brother thereafter was exhausting. But by the end, Chelsea saw the man she once loved, as Adam was willing to do anything to help their son.

The past won’t leave Adam, as it doesn’t leave anyone. But he’s learned some lessons and is applying them today.

The challenge for ‘Chadam’ will be to focus on tomorrow and not be hounded by the past. Better days can result, but both halves of this couple must help each other to live healthier lives.
