The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) has been around criminals for too long. He knows a liar when he sees one and in this instance, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) reeks of dishonesty.

The charged conversation these strained friends, if they even are that now, had at the penthouse was a foreshadowing. Chance was putting Adam on notice. He knew something was off and that Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) was more than likely the target of Adam’s latest tantrum.

Everyone, not just Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) told Chelsea to stay away from Adam. But she wouldn’t listen.

It wouldn’t be right to question Chelsea’s emotions. She genuinely loves the man, who’s filled her heart for many years. However, the price Chelsea has paid has been enormous.

Twice thinking Adam died would have been enough to break anyone. But Chelsea survived. She also continued to overlook his dark side that has now led to her kidnapping.

A crime has been committed and more are planned. Chance has a problem though, as he doesn’t seem to be fully calculating.

Adam is aware that Chance knew a crime was committed in Las Vegas, Nevada. He saved Chance’s life when responding to a man Boaz’s character was following.

Grossman’s character accidentally killed the suspect and Chance didn’t report the death, which was a crime. So, will Adam leverage that information, or use it as part of a revenge plan if necessary? Of course, in either instance.

Why can’t Adam simply choose to be happy? It must be his personality type that subjects him to perpetual emotional prison.

Free will suggests that Adam is simply a goof. He has a woman who loves him completely and forces her out of his life and then into a locked room. Meanwhile, one of the two sons he has a relationship with, Connor Newman (Judah Mackey), was shipped off to boarding school. Adam made that happen so he could attack his father and older sister.

As the younger version of himself has been stressing, what does Adam gain from all of this? The man needs help but won’t get it until he’s either forced to in prison or recognizes that serious therapy is needed indefinitely.
