The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) has returned to Genoa City, Wisconsin. He intends to make his re-found home permanent.

Re-familiarizing himself in this setting, Chance also made a career change. No longer working for the authorities, he’s removed himself from the isolation of working undercover to catch dangerous bad guys and ladies. Now, he’s a private security contractor, with his first job being at the Grand Phoenix Hotel, that Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan), and the dangerous pest, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) own.

Of all the people who could have spotted Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Chance while in Las Vegas, Nevada, did Phyllis have to be the one? Well, yes, because this is good soap.

Phyllis first revealed her knowledge of the link between Chance and Adam awhile back. Adam didn’t take kindly to being her initial target.

The multi-million dollar bribe Phyllis rejected to leave town confirmed what Stafford’s character’s suspicions. Valuable intel exists as long as she keeps pushing to determine its source.

Chelsea saw Chance and Adam in an intense discussion in the main lobby of the Grand Phoenix. She knew it meant something and asked Adam about it later. He deferred.

Viewers were allowed to learn a few bits from the conversation both men had. It was based on a monthly payment to an undefined woman.

How could it be that two guys who apparently didn’t know each other were linked to a woman, who they, or at least Adam, now pays money to? The needed answer to this question isn’t known but needs to be before any sense can be made of this evolving part of the storyline.

Phyllis knows that Chance believes he’s got one upon her. She also knows that, like Adam, he’s concerned about the danger she could pose to both of them depending on what she knows, or learns.

Miss Summers uses the power to play games. She’s proclaimed herself a phoenix. But in order to rise from the ashes, she’ll need to gain more than her share in the hotel to become a player in GC.

Clearly, whatever secret Chance and Adam have between them will come out. Phyllis wants to hold the power of that reveal over their heads, which is clearly dangerous for her as well.
