The Young and the Restless spoilers document that in Genoa City, Wisconsin Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is teetering on the edge of a mental breakdown unless he’s already having one. Y&R fans saw this magnetic actor play off a younger version of his character, which was offered as Adam’s conscience.

Young Adam (Dane West) appeared in scenes that were tinted with a noticeably dark, chromatic hue. In them, Adam was interacting with his traumatized childhood self saying that Hope Wilson (Signy Coleman) wouldn’t want him to pursue his plans.

Knowing Adam he doesn’t just have one plan, he has multiple plans that are being designed to inflict the maximum amount of pain on his father and others who he’s come to foolishly loathe. Adam is so selfish that he’s blocked out the momentarily visible part of his conscience that speaks for what’s still good in him.

Chelsea was open to a possible reconciliation. That feeling was somewhere in her mind when she took Victor’s advice and went to the penthouse.

Yes, Chelsea said she was there to gather the remainder of her personal items and she likely would have listened to Adam’s pleas and helped him. But he’s too stubborn to believe that he needs help. As Dane’s edition implied, Adam is his own worst enemy.
