There are two important men in Vickie Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) life on ‘The Young and the Restless’ who are being compared. The first is her father, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), who she adores, but has been sporadically estranged from. The other is Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), who is her true love and repeated source of heartbreak.
Comparing Victor to Billy can’t be done if time were the main measure since Vickie has known the ‘Moustache’ her entire life. So, the volume of instances where Victor destabilized Vickie’s life would arguably make him the greater negative force in this particular topic.
She’s been connected to Billy for approximately ten years in soapy time. But rather than dwelling on history, like when Victor had Billy Miller’s (Billy) edition of this character and Vickie arrested on their wedding day, let’s look at more current storylines with a purposeful sense of balance.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Victor Newman Relinquished The Reigns
Victor was waiting for his first-born child to state her case for taking over. Vickie came to that point last year and issued an ultimatum. Either he let her become Chief Executive Officer of Newman Enterprises, or she was leaving for good.
Giving up the goat at Newman was inevitable, as the blood disease Victor contracted would have made him relinquish power to someone. However, he was genuinely happy to see Vickie take control and have remained retired.
Victor and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) was as supportive as possible during Vickie’s most recent reunion with Billy. Victor even went so far as to back off his constant chiding of Billy and came to commiserate with him about Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).
Y&R Spoilers – Billy Abbott Stood Tall During J.T. Hellstrom Horror Show
J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) was and is a good guy. But it appeared as though he’d turned into a monster during the creative arc that eventually revealed him to have a brain tumor.
Vickie was tormented by J.T. and was eventually wrapped in a presumed murder coverup. Luckinbill’s character survived the assumed burial the Girls Night In Gang handled. J.T. also tried twice to kill Victor during this plot period.
Billy became the rock of ‘Villy’s’ family, taking care of parental responsibilities and standing with Vickie when the long-awaited ending to that tale finally arrived. Vickie fell back in love with Billy and another chapter in their couple’s story played out.
