‘The Young and the Restless’ Poll: Should Nick Take Phyllis Back For a Real Relationship?

Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) is considering a ‘Phick’ reunion on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But he has his doubts.

There’s no question that this duo was, is, and will likely always be physically attracted to each other. They also find each other’s personalities to be appealing, as Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) likes Nick’s stable qualities and he enjoys her risk-taking nature.

When last seen, ‘Phick’ included Gina Tognoni’s (Phyllis) softer edition of this iconic Y&R character. But Nick felt that Phyllis broke his trust and kicked her out of his house last spring. Now, with Stafford’s original version of Phyllis having reestablished ‘Red’s’ darker side, the idea of this couple’s re-pairing is debatable.

There are many characters in Genoa City, Wisconsin, who would ban ‘Phick’ forever if they could. Those residents are joined by a contingent in the audience who’ve never forgiven Nick for having abandoned Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) after Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes) tragically died.

‘Shick’ supporters haven’t realized Sharon and Nick’s remarriage. So while they likely don’t care if Nick and Phyllis pair up yet again, doing so would only serve to rub in the damage that Morrow’s character caused 15 years ago.

Sharon is very happy with Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso). ‘Shey’ is working and surely has added stability to Sharon’s life during her cancer crisis. It must be added that Nick has also been there for his ex-wife and the mother of two of his children.

So, ‘Phick’ could work in modern times if Nick was willing to accept that Phyllis will never be the type of wife that Sharon was. Stafford’s character is clearly the anti-Sharon.

Nick has been single for awhile. Phyllis began reestablishing ties with him last summer when she facilitated Newman Enterprises buyback of properties Nick took when he founded Dark Horse.

Summer Newman (Hunter King) is the most important reason why Nick and Phyllis always have a chance to revive their romantic connection. King’s character represents proof that Nick and Phyllis do love each other.

Phyllis appears to want Nick. She does, right?

It’s hard to tell if Nick represents a piece of Phyllis’ old life that she wants to restore, he symbolizes something more. It seems highly likely that she has fallen for him again and sees a ‘Phick’ reboot as part of her phoenix rise story.

But Phyllis alienates people and causes major damage. Her current scheme, centering on the hotel she owns, is leading somewhere shady. Nick will certainly be dragged into whatever situation she’s developing if, in fact, she successfully recaptures and holds his interest.
