The Young and the Restless News: Y&R Star Explains Why He’s Not Into Social Media

Most celebrities have their own official social media accounts, which they use to promote themselves, connect with fans, etc. But Tyler Johnson isn’t one of them. Even though his alter ego Theo Vanderway on “The Young and the Restless” is a successful influencer in Genoa City, Johnson isn’t much of a fan of this medium.

The actor explained why he doesn’t do product or self-promotion on social media.

“It’s kind of a stretch for me to play, because I’m sort of social media averse,” he said in an interview with Soaps In Depth.

“It’s not that I don’t like the landscape — I enjoy engaging with it, but as an artist, I’m sensitive. You see all the good things that come across, but then what’s the one thing that you focus on? The negative!” he continued.

The actor knows that he needs to be careful especially when it comes to how toxic and brutal social media platforms like Twitter could be, he’s having his own share of exposure to this medium through his character, Theo.

“I understand the power of social media, and I understand the power of these platforms and those who can utilize them in a really big way,” he admitted.

“I have a lot of respect for that. And with this role, I get to understand that culture without actually being part of that culture!” he continued.

Y&R Spoilers: What’s Next For Theo Vanderway: Spoilers Ahead

Meanwhile, Theo is causing a lot of problems between Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Rosales (Sasha Calle). Theo will force Lola to admit that Theo is her head just like Summer Newman (Hunter King) is in his. It’s something that he’d, later on, wish he never said.

Later in the week, Theo and Lola will share a passionate kiss. Meanwhile, Kyle and Summer will be sharing not only a kiss back when they were in San Francisco. He will give in to the temptation and sleep with Summer. Do all these mark the end of Kyle and Lola’s relationship?

Spoilers also hint that some will wonder if what Theo’s real motives are especially for Lola. Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will confront him about it and ask what his real intentions are.
