The Young and the Restless comings and goings have everyone asking the same question: is Green Day lead singer Joe Armstrong joining the cast?

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first celebrity musician generating buzz for wanting to be on a highly-rated daytime television show. And while Armstrong himself has dropped quite a few hints about wanting to join in on all the fun and chaos in Genoa City, we’ve got the answer you need to know right here.

The soap world couldn’t stop buzzing about the possibility of seeing Billie Armstrong join The Young and the Restless after he shared a photo of Hunter King (Summer Newman) and Michael Mealor (Kyle Abbott) on his Instagram account. If that weren’t enough, he also shared a backstage photo of The Young and the Restless set, adding that he would love to be a soap opera star. This, of course, furthered a lot of speculation that Billie was going to join the cast as a guest star.

Unfortunately for both The Young and the Restless and Green Day fans, that’s where the speculation ended. Even though actress Camryn Grimes (Mariah) reached out to Billie with a personal invitation to join the show, he didn’t reply. Instead, he was actually at the CBS studios for Green Day’s performance on The Late Late Show with James Corden and not to visit The Young and the Restless.

It’s just too bad that nothing developed between Billie Armstrong and the producers of the show, as it would have been exciting to see him in a scene or two. After all, there is always a good number of celebrities who come and go over at the soap’s sister series, The Bold and the Beautiful. As a matter of fact, Hollywood actress Denise Richards has landed a full-time role on the show while the ‘Peloton Girl’ actress Monica Ruiz also recently made a guest appearance, too. We will just have to cross our fingers that it works out for Billie the next time around.
