Hope has always suspected that Thomas hasn’t actually moved on with his life. She believed that Zoe was being played by Thomas in an effort to force Hope to marry him.

Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri) is the leading poor soul in this storyline, as he’s created a real bond with Hope, who he came to think of as his second mother. Hope’s bold move in adopting Douglas sets up a scenario where she will seek full custody of Thomas’ son, with Liam serving as his stepfather.

So whatever Hope is able to accomplish, either now, or through a presumed full custody push, will almost certainly be coupled with Thomas’ vindictive response. Who that impacts and how those people’s lives are affected will prove intriguing.

Thomas’ main concern should be Douglas’ well-being. Parenting abilities will be spotlighted in any legal custody battle, with Hope consistently demonstrating that she has her adopted son’s best interests at heart.
