While everyone in this version of Los Angeles, California, and all viewers recognize that Steffy and Liam are and should be tied together forever, that assessment is based on Kelly Spencer’s (Avalon and Colette Gray) presence in their lives. They are her parents and rightfully maintain a personal bond. The fact that their connection has been positive has allowed Kelly to thrive. But the recent Steam reconnect is a different subject.
Liam can’t be truly faulted for thinking that Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle) was kissing Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson). The shadowy setting that Liam entered at night, while Thomas was kissing plastic Hope, didn’t allow a clear view to be possible. So, Liam was shocked into believing that his wife was engaging with his nemesis.
It’s fair to argue that Liam’s personality should have led to him confronting Thomas. If so, he would have realized that he was kissing the mannequin right then and there. That outcome would have clipped the storyline at that point, which wasn’t intended.
Liam now sees the mannequin in retrospect after also seeing her, as Hope referred to the inanimate doppelganger, at Thomas’ apartment in the daylight.
Steffy came to the conclusion that Liam loved Hope more than her, which was very painful.
Viewers saw that Steffy referenced the end of Steam during the depths of her brief entrance into pain-killer addiction. Fans also know that the photo of Steffy and Liam, that still hangs on her living room wall, indicates that love hasn’t been fully lost.
Under the influence of a number of drinks, Liam directly said that he and Steffy might still have a chance. Wood’s character, who also had a few adult beverages, was overwhelmed by that signal, which led to the romantic reconnection that they both regret. That specific act truly endangers Steffy’s relationship with John Finnegan (Tanner Novlan).
Thomas can not be blamed by Liam for what happen. To his credit Liam has acknowledged that Thomas was injured, referencing the subdural hematoma.
Liam is the villain, to put it bluntly. He acted as though he knew all, condemned Hope with faulty evidence, and sought emotional comfort with his other love within hours of convincing himself that Lope was over. Wow is the right interjection to use in this soapy situation.
How Steffy and to a lesser extent, Liam, proceeds from this plot point forward will determine if, or when, Finn learns the truth. If he does, as the aggrieved party, he’ll have a choice to make that could leave Steffy single again.
