The lie Sally brazenly invented was revealed to shockingly include Dr. Penny Escobar (Monica Ruiz). Instead of being the strict medical professional that Katie Logan (Heather Tom) was led to believe she was, Ruiz’s character was also shown to be a personal friend of Sally’s.
Dr. Escobar’s confrontation of Sally at Wally’s home telegraphs the coming end to the current ruse. But how and when that happens and what the resulting fallout will look like is all part of the rub.
Hope’s character was briefly written out of the show when Spectra Fashions went under. The other characters who were connected to Sally were removed from recurring appearances, but Hope returned.
Sally happened upon Wyatt during a social night out. They connected romantically and formed the first edition of Wally. That likable couple ended last year after Wyatt learned that Sally withheld information about Thomas Forrester’s (Matthew Atkinson) plan to break Lope.
Wyatt reunited with Flo Fulton (Katrina Bowden), but later split from her following the Beth Spencer (Madeline Valdez and River Davidson) reveal. Yet his bounce-back to Sally didn’t last long, as he eventually decided that Flo was a greater love. So, it appears as though Hope’s character is scheming to make this third time Wally pairing the charm.
Katie was seen walking by a room where Sally was waiting to receive a diagnosis. Both ladies, who hadn’t been close before that day, began talking.
Sally’s ask for Katie to stay during Dr. Escobar’s seemingly real diagnosis statement was purposeful. Sally needed a witness to carry the imminent death message. Whether she calculated that would be quickly passed onto Wyatt, or not is intriguing, as there was no way for her to know for certain.
In effect, Sally appeared to be improvising on the spot. Whatever is shown to be true through retrospective reflection, or actual flashback scenes, that gamble worked. Katie told Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) and then Wyatt what she’d learned.
Sally’s admission to Wyatt that she’s dying wasn’t planned, as viewers learned when Hope’s character excoriated Penny after Brooks’ character departed the scene. That confirmed Sally didn’t want to directly lie to the man she claims to love. But now that’s happened.
The dime will drop on Sally at some point. She’ll be revealed as leading Wyatt and many others to believe that her life was threatened, which won’t be defensible.
The gamble Sally is making is that some type of remission or full cure will come about and also remain cloaked in secrecy. That plot technique can forward this storyline past the soon-arriving 30-day death deadline.
Surely Sally’s high-risk strategy is going to lead to Wally’s demise. Whether that also forces her to leave Los Angeles, California, remains to be seen on B&B.
