Brooke’s recent action, in kissing Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) and then not coming forth and saying that the event happened in the cabin, was admittedly ill-advised. But for Ridge to choose to believe that a single kiss must end Bridge and then lead to him pursuing a relationship with Shauna Fulton (Denise Richards) represents a reaction, rather than a thoughtful response.
Intentionally twisting what happened, in a moment of mutual weakness between Brooke and Bill, looks to be a mistake in this particular soapy situation.
Yes, she does. Quinn Forrester (Rena Sofer) would be the first to loudly point that out.
But what the video uploader wouldn’t offer is that she was kissing Ridge on a beach in the recent past. That was one in a series of flirtatious encounters with Kaye’s character, which wasn’t part of an affair but represents more egregious behavior than what Brooke and Bill did.
Brooke’s entire life history is not on trial. Instead, what she did during a matter of minutes is being touted as though it was some horrible, moral crime. It’s not that at all.
Bill is Ridge’s mortal enemy for many good reasons. That’s why the sight of him laying his lips on Brooke infuriated Ridge and caused a one-sided physical confrontation to occur during what should have been Bridge’s reunion celebration.
Ridge does have a strong point to make when saying that his emotional wound, where Brill issues are concerned, was reopened when he witnessed the video Shauna took. But Bill honestly had no intention of taking Brooke from Ridge when he went to the cabin on that fated night.
It’s understandable that Ridge wasn’t initially open to logic after the reveal happened. Time is serving to soothe his emotions to a degree. So Brooke is hoping that their longstanding connection will overpower whatever feelings of betrayal Ridge has.
Past reconciliations don’t mean that this issue will be worked out. Shauna is the wild card, as she’s an intriguing option for Ridge.
Whatever took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, or will happen in the near future, won’t erase Bridge’s history. However, the issue is whether Ridge will see Brooke’s action as a mistake, or the reinforcement of distrust.
At the same time, Ridge is trying to determine what he thinks of Shauna and whether a future with her is possible. Both factors are significant and intertwined, with no easy solution yet existing in Ridge’s mind.
