‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Spoilers: Liam Must Adapt To Changing Circumstances – Hope Has Had Enough

Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) is shell-shocked on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’. He asked Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) to remarry him with what he believed were two reasonable conditions attached. She didn’t agree to the proposal on the night it was asked, which sent him to the house where his daughter and her mother, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) live.

Hope cleared her head and was in touch with the love of her life the next day. She planned to meet with Liam at the cabin, where they would hash out their differences, and felt encouraged about what might result. But her choice to go to the cliff house changed everything, making Liam take stock of his life.

Seeing Steffy passionately kissing Liam was a planned event. It never would have happened if Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) hadn’t been eavesdropping at Brooke Logan’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) estate and if Clifton’s character hadn’t been written to B&B’s beautiful backyard setting.

Placing Atkinson’s puppet master character askew of the Logan ladies was classic soap, including Thomas’ reaction shots. Having him trail Hope reminded fans of what he did to Emma Barber (Nia Sioux) on Mulholland Drive on that fateful night last June.

Seeing Thomas hiding behind the bushes, while Hope stood crying and Steffy and Liam smooched felt oh so middle school, as that’s what the dynamic of this quartet projects, rather than their actual thirty-something status.

Hope finally reached her end point, or so she says. And who can fault her?

The back and forth between ‘Lope’ and ‘Steam’ these past years hasn’t resolved anything, but has kept the three principals in flux. Trying to blame Thomas for that would take the blame off the original trio and Hope doesn’t want to do that.

Of course Thomas has complicated matters through his obsession with Hope, degradation of Liam, and misuse of the sibling bond he has with Steffy. But Liam’s singular focus on Thomas is also a problem, which Hope’s break-up stance addresses as well.

Thomas was trying to purposely provoke Liam last week, in saying that he was a bad father. That’s not true. But the point Thomas made about keeping Steffy on a string, by not asking Hope to have remarried at that point, was cutting because there was a grain of truth in it.

Hope’s decision to end the latest round of ‘Lope’ is significant. If fans assume she follows completely through, Liam would be primed to return to Steffy. But viewers haven’t forgotten about another of Thomas’ insights, being that Liam could lose Steffy as well.
