Royal Family News: Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Rebuked Over “Loaning” Princess Eugenie Frogmore Cottage

British royal family news shows that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex seem damned if they do and damned if they don’t in regard to infamous Frogmore Cottage. The taxpayers renovated the pile to the tune of millions of dollars for the then-newlyweds who turned their noses up at it and instead fled to California.

They left the abandoned cottage to gather weeds until it was revealed recently that Harry has “loaned” the place to his pregnant cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank.

Once the Markle’s dumped Frogmore they were roundly criticized for ordering renovations and then declaring the place unfit for them. Now that they have supposedly made use of the place via “loan” they are once again being flogged for their actions.

Specifically, some have questioned whether or not Eugenie will be paying rent to the Sussexes. Now The Express has taken a poll which reveals what the residents of the UK think of this whole transaction.

Readers were asked if Meghan and Harry should ask Eugenie to pay rent. Nearly 2,500 people responded, and the vast majority, nearly 70% said no to the rent question.

And in keeping with the spirit of the opinion poll, they added their own ideas to the pot.

Where did people think any potential rent money should go? One reader suggested they give it away to a charity.

But another reader said that, “Frogmore Cottage is already owned by the Crown Estate and isn’t for sale.”

Another person wished to see Harry step away completely: “This building should now return to the Queen. If she wishes to let others live there, then she should do so,” while one told him firmly, “You don’t own it.”

Royal watchers Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie said on the Royally Obsessed podcast that they don’t think Eugenie is paying rent.

Bowie noted, it was a “smart decision … I don’t think that they’re paying rent which is interesting.”

But she also stated, “on the flip side if it is vacant, wouldn’t you rather have someone looking after it?

And ITV Royal Editor Chris Ship himself has questioned the “financial arrangements” between the two couples over the cottage, so it seems that no one is sure what exactly is going on.
