Everyone knows that’s not likely to happen as Prince Harry is now sixth in line to the British throne. Still, if Harry has the mentality of someone who wants to be “king of the world” then taking on the persona of an American celeb is pretty close to fitting that bill.
Now, an internationally recognized expert on British and European royalty has come out suggesting that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s move to Montecito in Santa Barbara is about turning themselves into celebrities rather than living their lives as British Royals.
Speaking in a documentary for Channel 5, Emily Andrews, another British expert on the Royal Family, said “Harry has had to give up everything. He’s giving up his family, his homes, his country everything he’s ever known, and those military titles and Meghan’s right they meant so much to him.”
While experts debate whether Prince Harry truly “gave up everything” considering the fact that he continues to receive British taxpayer funds through Prince Charles’s Duchy of Cornwall to the tune of £2.5 Million per year, there is no question that he’s left the UK for an exclusive ultra-rich neighborhood filled with Hollywood celebs. For example, now Prince Harry can rub elbows with Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Oprah Winfrey. (Prince Harry could have hung out with Jeff Bridges, but the latter sold his place in 2017.)
Be that as it may, the allure for Prince Harry might be actually getting to produce documentary films that promote his political and philosophical views. In other words, it’s being near the filmmaking Capital of the Western world along with its vast media resources that could have captured Prince Harry’s imagination. According to reports, Prince Harry doesn’t just plan to come up with ideas and perhaps produce. Instead, insiders claim that Prince Harry intends to be included in these documentaries himself. Harry will either present as a host or perhaps take on the role of a reporter or investigator within the film as he interviews others concerning the film’s subject matter.
No matter what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s intentions were when they moved to California (and let’s be honest, no one truly knows the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s minds and hearts but themselves) the truth is that their opportunities on America’s west coast might be limited. With the Coronavirus pandemic causing major brands to go bankrupt, such as CMX Cinemas, and with many businesses in Hollywood hurting with film production shut down, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex might find their dreams of Hollywood stardom out of reach.
Indeed, Meghan and Harry might wish they’d taken a look at Variety magazine before choosing to move to Montecito where they dropped $14.5 Million in a new house. The magazine noted, “There is widespread fear among industry insiders that there could be sizable layoffs across Hollywood if the impact of the virus continues to disrupt businesses for a lengthy period.”
