Prince Harry Scared ‘To Death’ To Meet Meghan’s Mom – But She Was Too Cool

Everybody knows that Prince Harry’s mom-in-law has moved in with him and Meghan Markle. In fact, Prince Harry has reportedly been the brunt of a lot of in-law jokes laid on him by pals back in Britain over the whole situation. (Amazing that Prince Harry hasn’t ditched them in a fit of rage the way he threw away his childhood friend, Tom “Skippy” Inskip when the latter urged caution when it came to marrying Meghan Markle.) However, Prince Harry may actually be totally fine with Meghan’s mother being an intimate part of his life with Meghan.

Now the new tell-all book, “Finding Freedom” suggests that while Prince Harry was desperately nervous to meet Doria Ragland (Meghan’s mom), the Prince’s first meeting with her went quite well. Apparently, Doria got to meet her future son-in-law back in 2016 before the rest of the world knew that Prince Harry and Meghan were planning to get hitched. For her part, Doria reportedly “came away impressed by his (Prince Harry’s) compassion, empathy, and level of activism.”

Doria Was More Nervous Than Harry

Now, according to Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, the co-authors of Finding Freedom, Doria was actually a lot more nervous about meeting Harry than he was about meeting her. Indeed, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote that “It takes a lot to faze the yoga instructor (Doria Ragland) although she later told a colleague at the mental health clinic where she worked that the experience of meeting a prince who also happened to be dating her daughter was ‘a little surreal.’”

There was that, and also the fact that Doria might have been a bit concerned that Prince Harry was something of a rich, partying brat. Meghan Markle was obviously concerned about this since Finding Freedom goes on to say that, “Although she talked with Doria about the guys she dated, Meghan didn’t make it a habit of introducing them to her mum until the relationship was further down the line. But she wanted to put Doria at ease and show her that even though Harry was a worldwide public figure, he was also a good man.”

Indeed, an insider later suggested that Meghan, “didn’t want her (Doria Ragland) worrying about anything. She wanted her mum to see the real Harry, the man she was falling in love with.”

Harry Was the Real Deal

According to those close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan really wanted her mother to see the real Prince Harry. She didn’t want her mom to have a false impression about Prince Harry that was based only on what she’d read or heard in the media. Indeed, Finding Freedom suggests that following the meeting with Prince Harry, Dorian Ragland “could see he was genuine.”

Those who have kept up with the development of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship know of course that Meghan went on to marry the prince. Following the birth of their little son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, Meghan brought her mother into the family household.

Some have criticized Meghan heavily over this decision because it looks as if she might simply be using her mother as a live-in babysitter. Whether this is true or not, Doria Ragland is able to enjoy being around her grandson in a way that Meghan Markle’s father does not.
