Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Future In Britain Looks Bleak – New Poll Urges Sussexes To Stay In Canada

Meghan Markle

If the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had been entertaining the notion of returning home and back to the British Monarchy, a new poll may make them want to think that notion.

Of course, it’s just one poll, but over 6,000 participants were quite firm in their opinion that the country will survive just fine without Meghan Markle and her husband Harry.

UK paper the Express ran a poll this past Friday asking the clear-cut, unequivocal question, “should Meghan Markle and Prince Harry return to the UK to be with the Royal Family?” According to the publication, the vast majority of people, 88% or more than 5,000, responded, “no”. “Okay, then!”

Based on the comments to the survey, the readership had quite definite ideas in response to the query.

The Sussex’s have been urged not to return to Britain

“The UK can manage without them!” voted one reader, one of the thousands who voted no. Another said, “No! Absolutely not. They chose to leave and the Royal Family and the country can manage without them.”

This sentiment comes even in light of the fact that coronavirus fears have severely impacted the way the royal family is conducting business. Queen Elizabeth herself has taken the unprecedented step of leaving Buckingham Palace in order to reduce her risk of catching COVID-19. For the foreseeable future the Queen will reside at Windsor Castle.

Yet, many poll respondents apparently feel that even in the absence of the Queen, the services of Meghan and Harry are not necessary. So, if they are not welcome back in the UK, even if there suddenly was a severe shortage of royals to go around, what in the world would it take for them to be welcomed back?

Maybe we should query the 11% or 711 individuals who voted yes, they should return? Or perhaps we should consult with the 1% who said they weren’t sure if the couple should return.

Author Nigel Hawthorne thinks Prince William may be required to step into the breach

According to Express, the poll was initiated after Nigel Hawthorne, author of Call Me Diana, stated that it would most likely be Prince William who would be tapped to be the placeholder while the coronavirus places a crimp on the ability of the family to carry on.

Would Harry be a suitable alternative to William if both the Queen and Prince Charles were incapacitated and/or forced to go into self-isolation?

According to Mr. Hawthorne, if this were the reality then Buckingham Palace would have to go down, “on bent knee” and ask Prince Harry to replace his brother!
