Netflix Leaves Meghan Out Of Royal Story – Hasn’t Been a Royal Long Enough

Evidently, Netflix’s hit drama, “The Crown,” will not depict Meghan Markle during its last season. So far, the show has portrayed events such as Queen Elizabeth’s “annus horribilis” in 1992. Also, over the course of the last few seasons, the show following members of The Firm and their life stories into the early 2000s.

New seasons will likely depict the fallout that occurred in the aftermath of Prince Charles’s split from Princess Diana. However, the show hasn’t tackled issues surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex whatsoever … and according to insiders, doesn’t plan to.

Indeed, Peter Morgan, the show’s screenwriter noted that “you need perspective” in order to create a storyline. “I just think you get so much more interesting with time.” In other words, the show’s executives don’t believe there’s enough distance between real-life events surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to create stories that will draw interest (and ratings).

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Are Too Fresh In The Mind

Despite claims, which Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made concerning their desire to get out of the limelight, they’ve been anything but. That’s why “The Crown’s” creative team feels there’s just not enough juice in Meghan Markle or Prince Harry to fuel episodes of the show. Meghan and Harry are right there in the faces of the masses every single day. Why does the public need a show to detail events of Prince Harry and Meghan’s lives when those events are already plastered all over tabloids and social media?

As Mr. Morgan noted, “Meghan and Harry are in the middle of their journey, and I don’t know what their journey is or how it will end. One wishes some happiness, but I’m much more comfortable writing about things that happened at least 20 years ago.”

Meghan And Harry Have To Wait 20 Years

According to “The Crown’s” screenwriter, too many events surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are here and gone. They’re fleeting and it’s hard to see which things concerning the Duke and Duchess of Sussex still be relevant to audiences decades from now.

Mr. Morgan went on to say of his creative process that, “I sort of have in my head a 20-year rule. That is enough time and enough distance to really understand something, to understand its role, to understand its position, to understand its relevance. I don’t know where in the scheme of things Prince Andrew or indeed Meghan Markle or Harry will ever appear.

We won’t know, and you need time to stop something being journalistic. And so I don’t want to write about (Harry and Meghan) because to write about them would instantly make it journalistic. And there are plenty of journalists already writing about them.”

Mr. Morgan suggested interestingly, “It’s quite possible, for example, to tell the story of Harry and Meghan through analogy and metaphor, if that’s what you want to do.” However, telling the real-life story of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seems to be left to those apparently worship them, such as co-authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.
